So this weekend was intended to be a “drama free” weekend. Horse shows are a part of my life that I love! And while they are tons of fun to see friends and have a good time, there ALWAYS seems to be some sort of drama involved. And a friend of mine and I decided to go to a show and have a “drama free” horse show! She would be the one showing, and I would just be there for the fun. Good intentions right?!?!? Well like all good intentions it didn’t end up how we had hoped.
FRIDAY
The start of the weekend! YEA! Everyone is all excited to go to “horse-show-land”! I left work early and headed my journey up to Cannon Falls to meet up with a friend for the horse show. I got about half way there, then is started raining.. no POURING like mad. I could hardly see out the windshield. I thought ok, no big deal will just take me a little longer to get to the show. Then the rain stops! YIPPIE! All is right again. Well 5 minutes later, POURING again! Ok Mother Nature.. enough is enough. I should have gotten a feeling Mother Nature was just going to mess up my drama free weekend. I make it to the show, safe and sound and ready to have a fun weekend! We get the horse worked and bathed and all ready for the show the next day and have fun while we do it.
Get to visit with friends and just have a good time. We get everything all set up for the night and decide to go get a drink and have dinner. We have a fun time at dinner and just have some good girl time. We then go back to the hotel and hang out a bit and get ready to go to bed. Then the drama starts (why.. why.. why…) I will not do in depth, because it’s not “my” business. But damn boys and their ex’s drama! Lol So that took up the rest of the night. SATURDAY
Alright Mother Nature.. we are getting ready for a HOT HOT day! So we get to the show and start getting ready for a fun day of horse showing! YAHOO!!! The show starts out great with friends doing well in their classes. My friends are showing and having a great time, which makes me SO happy! Wish I could be showing, but this works just fine for me! I like watching my friends have a good time and enjoy themselves. As the day goes on it gets warmer and warmer. Dang Mother Nature! Showing lasts most of the day from 8am until about the same time at night. I had a headache almost all day, but I wasn’t letting that get me down. As the day went on I just got warmer and warmer. And mind you I wasn’t really doing anything but being a spectator. I went into my car and turned the a/c on and cooled off for a bit (which felt great). Then back into the show to watch. The show is almost coming to a close for us for the day. I am excited to go eat at our favorite restaurant when we are in the area “Weiderholt’s”, if you are ever in the Hastings area you should GO! It’s AWESOME! We are getting to the last classes for us for the day and I go into the arena to watch. At this point I am really not feeling good, hot, tired and stomach is feeling a little queezy. I was thinking maybe only eating a taco salad for lunch wasn’t a good idea. I was SO excited to go out to dinner! So I decide to go back out to my car and cool off again because I was really not feeling well. So I am sitting in my car and getting cooled off for a while and I just get more sick feeling. Pretty sure at this point I have heat stroke.. PERFECT! I open the car door and start getting sick. Luckily a friend was coming back from their trailer and see me and get me some ice and find my friend to take me to the ER, just what I wanted to be doing. So we sit in the ER for a good 3 hours while I get IV fluids and they run some tests. Just what I love being in the ER when I wanted to be having a good “drama free” time.
SUNDAY
Well today it was supposed to be even warmer than yesterday and per doctors orders I was going to stay out of the heat. So I took my friend to the show in the morning then went back to the hotel and went back to bed. So I slept til the late morning and then got ready and went to the show to pick up some things I had there and I went HOME.
So, our “drama free” weekend didn’t really turn out to be one… but is there EVER drama free time? I am beginning to think that there isn’t…
Until next time……. M
